Los Angeles – MiTAC Computing Technology Corp., (MCT), an industry leading server and storage solutions provider, announced today that it is teaming with NVIDIA to support the NGC-Ready for Edge validation on its Firestone Edge Server FS2D01 to bring AI computing to the edge.

NVIDIA EGX is an advanced, GPU-accelerated computing platform that handles massive streams of data for low-latency AI computing at the edge, by placing AI computation next to the sensors.

“NVIDIA EGX is what we are looking for to solve the current bottleneck of cloud computing, which offers a cloud-native platform for robust computing power to AIoT and any other smart devices. We see growing demand from the market for AI & IoT applications and are proud that the MiTAC Firestone Edge Server and EGX are ready for the coming of 5G to the edge,” said Simon Hwang, Vice President of MiTAC.

Featuring low-latency architecture between devices and analytics endpoints, the Firestone Edge Server FS2D01 enables enterprises to efficiently process and respond to data. For example, a factory site can utilize the features of the NVIDIA EGX platform to react to the real-time response or decisions from any connected sensors or machines. This, in turn, reduces the amount of bandwidth needed compared to if that data had to be backhauled to a distant data center or cloud. With the FS2D01 server, companies in the largest industries—transportation, manufacturing, industrial, retail, healthcare, and agriculture—can deploy AI quickly and securely, from edge to cloud.

The FS2D01 is a compact 2U design, has front IO access, and fits a 600mm depth networking rack cabinet. The FS2D01 supports dual-socket 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor-based Edge platform. With support for up to 4 NVIDIA T4 GPUs, 12 DDR4 DIMM slots and maximum expansion of up to 7 standard PCIe slots, the FS2D01 can fully accelerate AI applications at the edge of security control or home security.
